Like the more famous Mountain Rescue units, Anglian Search Dogs volunteer to assist in a wide range of incidents.
From lost walkers, those suffering from Alzheimer’s or Dementia to missing children, despondent people and possible victims of crime.
Working directly for the Police in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, all handlers are trained to a rigorous standard in dog-handling, search tactics and the protection of crime scenes.
Qualified Handlers are on call 24/7, all year round. Once deployed by a call-out co-coordinator, they are directed by a Search Manager who liaises with the Police.
Though each handler is assisted by a navigator, they will rely strongly on their own skills and resources to fulfil the demands of the work.
Everyone gives their time entirely voluntarily, with all expenses met from their own pockets and through much appreciated fund raising efforts from vital helpers and willing volunteers.
